Hello dears, how is your quarantine going so far? What about your hours of sleep? Lately I have had a very ruined sleeping schedule which means that I don’t how I get very hyped during the night and I’m very energetic to do everything. Then of course I end up sleeping when the sun comes up and waking up very late! The whole point is that during one of these sleepless nights I got a very new idea! I have always been obsessed with videos around internet about resin artworks. It seemed very satisfying to me how a liquid turns into a solid object and how it transforms after you take of the molds. So, I thought why not to try this very fun activity while in quarantine to pass the time and create as much as I can. I didn’t hesitate and directly ordered any item needed to create resin pieces. There is an app in Vietnam called “Lazada” where you can order local products so, I found a few shops based in Ho Chi Minh City and the order came earlier than I thought! (tears of joy) I made a few experiments so I could train a bit myself working with a whole new material for me and I have to admit that it takes more skills and strategies than I thought but is still very fun and beautiful. From all possible kind of molds I also chose the “Buddha” collection and I got inspired to use neon pigments to fill in the image of “Laughing Buddha” for it stands for Happiness and Joy which we need a lot these days. According to the neon pigments I got, I thought to make a collection of seven Laughing Buddha – Keychains with a color for every Chakra! So here you go:
The chakras are energy centers associated with particular parts of the body, and are considered an interface between the physical and non-physical levels of a subtler anatomy of a human being. In Buddhism chakra is described as a “circle” – referring to the conception of rebirth. Our chakra mapping contains 7 main chakras, located at: the base of the spine, lower pelvis, solar plexus, center of chest, throat, forehead, crown of the head.
Each of the chakras vibrates at a particular frequency and responds to different vibrations of light. Within these frequencies each color contains information on several different levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The color is an aspect of the visible light spectrum with its particular frequency.
This is pretty much how they glow in the dark. This time without the need of UV lights because the neon pigments contains phosphorus and they will always shine in the dark. You should only charge them for a better glow if you put them in front of a lamp or inside the fridge for some minutes and that’s it.
I hope you liked my first resin piece collection. If you are interested to buy any of the “Laughing Buddha Keychains” you can contact me here via Facebook or Instagram (find them attached in my Homepage).
Now that I am wondering, should I write an article about the steps of using resin to create solid pieces of work? For further questions, let me know in the comments below!
Lots of Love,
Kurisu
